About

Hi, I’m Brooke. In 2013, I left a tenure-track position because I thought I wanted a PhD. Instead, culinary school called. Much to my own surprise, I answered.

Today, rather than researching mimetics in young adult literature, I’m the Friday chef at my local soup kitchen, teach basic culinary skills through the Share our Strength/Feeding America program, and play in my own kitchen and garden every chance I get. Lately, I’ve even added barbecue, catering, and developing an upcoming radio show to my list of things that keep me out of trouble.

I love a good road trip and I believe wholeheartedly in the power of good food and good stories to bring us together. I think of this site as my electronic table, a place where these things come together in occasionally messy but always interesting ways.

Want to get in touch with me? Have a question, a suggestion, or a place that I absolutely have to try the next time I’m in your corner of the world? Contact me using the form below.
